That’s right; the rather tasty Dell Netbook we mentioned previously is coming soon. Dell’s gaming division have finally got their act in gear and have their latest offering ready for release, and it’s coming sooner than you’d think. With a release date of the 01 March, it’s only a matter of days now. Priced at $799(£585) the ultra portable certainly isn’t light on the wallet, but the Intel Atom powered 1.3 GHz machine with 2 GB of RAM certainly looks the part.
With the latest in graphics technology being dual chipsets for both 2D and 3D graphics, you’ll be pleased to know that this ‘ultraportable’ is based around the Nvidia GeForce GT 335M with 1GB (yes, 1GB) of dedicated video memory. Indeed, you could be mistaken for thinking that this is a high powered gaming laptop, and indeed the firm is trying to avoid branding this compact piece of kit with the Netbook moniker. However, with an 11.6″ display and a chassis that will rock your world, the Alienware M11x is set to blow you away.
Like many of Dells offerings, the new Alienware gaming machine is customizable in the sense that you can upgrade the processor to a Core2Duo for just $100(£70) which would be a prudent call for most gamers. With extra RAM and a solid-state drive available for this beast, a few upgrades are recommended, as the base model at $799 (£565) isn’t quite as powerful as we’d have hoped but it’s by no means slow.
Ultimately however, what sets this laptop apart from the rest isn’t just the fact it has a huge graphics chip sitting under the ‘bonnet’, but in fact it’s the ‘bonnet’ itself. True to Alienware style, the compact netbook has its own unique style coming in both silver and black with a range of lighting options ensuring that wherever you go, people are going to be eyeing up your Netbook. If you can call it one that is…
